We’re a father and son team, along with a team of skilled therapists, who specialize in offering effective rehabilitation treatment to completely cure your addiction. Our treatment program is not like any other in the world for many reasons. We are not 12-step based, we won’t place you in groups all day that preach the disease concept of addiction, and place degrading labels on you like addict or alcoholic. You’re better than that, and along with being free from addiction; you deserve to be free of the labels as well. The Philosophy of Passages Malibu Addiction Cure Center
Addiction to drugs and alcohol is a symptom, not a cause, and not a disease. Addiction is triggered by either mental or physical pain; the drugs and alcohol are what you do to cope with it. To heal your addiction permanently, you must first go to the underlying cause, and heal it; then the addiction will cease to exist. In essence, you will have removed the thorn, the pain will subside, and so will the need for drugs and alcohol.
Underlying Causes
Many of the underlying causes that trigger addiction, and which we regularly heal at Passages are low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, loss of loved ones, trauma, molestation, headaches, insomnia, many sorts of physical pain, chemical imbalance, neurotransmitter imbalance, weak drive, ADD, lack of purpose, and family turmoil. There are many more underlying causes that we help our clients discover and heal, but those are some of the most common. It’s underlying problems like these that drive people to use drugs and alcohol, heal those and you have just accomplished a major component in getting sober permanently.
Why Most Treatment Centers Fail
Most treatment centers fail in their approach because they treat the addiction as if it is the problem, instead of looking for the deeper underlying issues. Their solution is a one-size fits all approach, which is to detox you, and then place you in group-meetings. This method of treatment is out of date, and needs to be changed drastically. Detoxing from drugs or alcohol is the first step, but if you don’t heal the underlying conditions, you will have a recipe for relapse.
What Passages Provides
At Passages, after your detox is over, instead of placing you in groups all day, we provide you with one-on-one therapy, with a sprinkle of groups mixed in. One-on-one therapy is the key ingredient to healing. Your team of 10 therapists will be providing you with approximately 55 hours a month of excellent, therapeutic one-on-one treatment. If you add in all the other activities and group sessions we offer, you will receive over 100 hours of attention at the end of the month. The Missing Link
Underlying issues are the real causes of addiction, not a disease, and as such, are very important to heal.
